Real Seattleites know not to get our summer clothes out until we see at least 5 sunny days in a row on the forecast. With the shiny thing in the sky finally here to stay, not only will we be able to replenish our Vitamin D, we’ll also have more opportunities to spend time outdoors and enjoy the natural beauty that surrounds us.
Our city is famous for its stunning views on those clear days and fortunately many local restaurants take advantage of them. Here are five restaurants with beautiful views for you to enjoy this spring and summer.
Agua Verde Cafe
Located just south of UW, Agua Verde sits right on the waterfront to give a perfect view of Portage Bay. You can sit outside and enjoy the view while munching on the café’s Mexican staples, including a variety of tacos, tortas, and enchiladas. For an exciting before- or after-meal activity, you can even rent kayaks and paddle boards from the adjoining paddle club to get out and explore Portage Bay yourself!
If you’re feeling beach vibes, head down to Alki Beach, where you can find Christo’s right next to the shoreline. Take a break from strolling in the sand by sitting down to enjoy the Greek sandwiches, pizza, and pasta served here. You can enjoy the sunset from the upstairs patio, or, if you’re an early bird, you can also go for brunch on weekends starting at 8:00 AM.
I Love Sushi
Sushi restaurants aren’t known for being picturesque but is located right on the southern shore of Lake Union and features big windows through which you can enjoy the beauty of the lake, not to mention patio seating if you want to really soak up the sun. To check out the views while the sun is at its peak, stop by I Love Sushi at lunchtime and have one of their many lunch specials, which include bento boxes, poke, and both roll and nigiri sushi.
When you want to impress a big group with Lake Union views, look no further than China Harbor on its east shore. The multi-level venue has plenty of space as well as a menu full of American-Chinese classics made to share. The upper-level banquet hall is also a perfect vantage point from which you can look across Lake Union, especially at night, when the city lights up.
Marination Ma Kai
There are multiple locations of the Marination chain around Seattle, but Marination Mai Kai stands out for its perfect location on the shore of Elliott Bay. It’s easy to access by the water taxi that travels across the bay from downtown, and once you’re there, you’ll have an unparalleled view of the city across the water. Complement your sunny views with Marination’s famous Korean-Hawaiian eats, including kalua pork sliders, kalbi tacos, and kimchi fried rice. During the summer, there’s also an outdoor patio where you can sit and enjoy the breeze. It’s not quite a tropical breeze, but the shaved ice and cocktails can make it close enough!
