Feb 9-25 Lloyd Suh’s “American Hwangap”

Experience Lloyd Suh’s “American Hwangap,” a story about a Korean-American family’s reunion with their father after 15 years. Directed by AJ Epstein, “American Hwangap” depicts Min Suk Chun’s story as he reconciles with his family during an intense birthday weekend. Filled with humor, heartbreak and half-filled expectations, the story portrays a transformation within a family and the cultural celebration of hwangap, a person’s 60th birthday.

Feb 12 Challah Bread Baking Class with Masha

Learn how to make challah, a Jewish braided egg bread through this exciting hands-on workshop. All the ingredients will be provided and you will get to experience the whole process from flour to bread that you can take home to share with your loved ones. Feb 13 Humanizing the Inhuman: Photographing the Philippine Drug War

Professor Vicente Rafael will discuss the narco- and necro-politics of the war on drugs under the guidance of President Rodrigo Duterte. He uses the work of photojournalists throughout his talk to reflect on the powerful message of a photo during the drug war. Join him and digest the problems and issues occurring today in the Philippines revolving around drugs and violence.
